The Cycle Of War: Trench Assault is a minimalist trench warfare strategy game made during "My First Gamejam 2023" where the player takes on the role of a company commander from the mighty BLUE nation and attempts to take and hold trenches in a bitter conflict against the dastardly RED nation.

It is highly recommended to play this game in full screen. The edges of the playing field may be hard to see depending on your settings otherwise.

Features:
-A two-phases system where the player first places their assets on the map, then blows the trench whistle and watch their soldiers fight.
-During an assault, use artillery to destroy enemy barbed wires or stun the defenders.
-Barbed wires, machine guns and riflemen can be moved around to try and provide optimal defences with limited resources
-A lot of dead circles.

Content warning:
This is a parody game about the absurdity of war, it contains war themes and an over-the-top hostile rhetoric. Contains firearms and explosion sounds but no human sounds nor any visual gore.

We have more medals than widows! I loved playing this game, took a couple tries to get the hang of it and by the end I had a blast (pun intended) assaulting the enemy's trenches. Very good job

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Very enjoyable game, the music and sfx are spot on. Personally I think the placement is great and really makes you think about what you are doing. Great stuff!

Thank you. I'll be honest, making the unit placement work was probably the hardest part of making the game.

I really like the simplicity of the concept and gameplay, and I think the music and sound that you added really sells the theme of the game. I had fun trying to be clever with unit placements and would love to see even more of it. You did great!

Thanks a lot! I'm happy you like it.
